Junior Duck Stamp Art Contest

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service administers the annual Junior Duck Stamp Contest, a nationwide competition that allows studetns in K-12th grade to combine the disciplines of art and science. The John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum serves as the collection and judging site for Pennsylvania entrants with the refuge's manager serving as state coordinator. More information about this contest and contact information for other state collection and judging sites can be found at http://www.fws.gov/juniorduck/ or by contacting the refuge.

2012-2013 Federal Duck Stamp is Available
The first day of sale for the 2012-2013 Federal Duck Stamp was June 29, 2012. Collectors and waterfowl hunters can purchase the Federal Duck Stamp at Heinz National Wildlife Refuge. The Federal Duck Stamp is among the most cost effective and direct investments anyone can make to ensure wetlands are nourished, protected, and benefit migratory birds and other wildlife, fish, plants and people. Federal Duck Stamps, which the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service sells for $15, are a required purchase for hunters, but they are also prized by stamp collectors, conservationists, wildlife artists and many others. Ninety-eight cents of every dollar raised by Federal Duck Stamps is used to purchase or lease wetland habitat that is protected within the National Wildlife Refuge System. The Federal Duck Stamp also gives you free entrance to all the National Wildlife Refuges throughout the United States. The 2012-2013 Federal Duck Stamp features a wood duck painted by Joe Hautman of Plymouth, Minn. Last October at the Federal Duck Stamp Art Contest, five judges chose his art to grace the new Duck Stamp from among 190 paintings.
