Waterfowl Count

Bi-Weekly waterfowl surveys are conducted from Nov. 1 through March 15 of every year. Surveys are conducted early in the morning and are used as a representative sample of total waterfowl present from survey to survey and year to year. Surveys are used in developing annual habitat work plans. While actual numbers may vary, consistency among observers and across years, waterfowl surveys provide management an indication of population fluctuations, trends, habitat use and species composition.
