Visiting Hanalei National Wildlife Refuge

The refuge is closed to the public to provide protection for endangered waterbirds. However, the Hanalei Valley overlook across from the Princeville Shopping Center offers breathtaking views of the valley and interpretive panels describing the refuge and wildlife.

Parking at the overlook is extremely limited. Please drive safely and use caution when turning from the main highway. Visitors are advised to enter and exit the overlook when traveling east to Princeville from Hanalei. Do not attempt to make a left turn across traffic into the overlook.
