The Branch of Habitat Assessment
provides ecological information and habitat assessment tools for protection,
restoration and management of the nation's fish and wildlife.
The responsibilities of the Branch are to address the operational needs of the
Service for ecological information and data. The Branch develops this information
and other tools to support status and trends reporting and natural resource
decision making by the Service and others. This information is an important
indicator of the habitat conservation needs and successes of the nation.
The Branch also works closely with the National Wetlands Inventory to generate information about the characteristics, extent and status of the Nation's wetlands and deepwater habitats. To learn more, go to the National Wetlands Inventory Web Page.
