Jobs, internships, and volunteer opportunities
Jobs
We are not hiring full-time, permanent employees right now. If you
are interested in finding more information about employment with the
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, please check our regional and national
homepages at the links below:
Internships
If you are a student, we do occasionally offer internships through
our Student
Temporary Employment Program (STEP) or Student
Career Experiences Program (SCEP),
depending on the needs of the office and the availability of funds.
Current openings would be posted on this
webpage, but you may also call our office
for more information or to find out about
future opportunities. If you call us, we might also be to inform you
of other student opportunities
working with USFWS or our partners.
Please note: On December 27, 2010 President
Obama issued an Executive Order (EO) entitled "Recruiting
and Hiring Students and Recent Graduates" that serves to eliminate
the Federal Career Internship Program (FCIP),
as well as the Student Career Experience
Program (SCEP), and replace them with a new
comprehensive hiring program called the Pathways
Program. The Executive Order provides a broad
framework for the new Federal hiring program
and directs the Office of Personnel Management
(OPM) to issue new Federal regulations for
the programs which are expected to be published
in the Federal Register in the coming months.
The OPM guidance is expected to ensure an
orderly transition from the existing hiring
programs to the new program. Agencies can
not begin to use the new hiring program until
after OPM establishes rules, regulations
and implementation guidance in accordance
to the EO. While no new FCIP appointments
can be made, agencies may continue to use
the existing SCEP, STEP, and Presidential
Management Intern programs until the new
regulations are implemented. We will share
additional information as soon as it's available.
If you have general questions about any of these programs or other
student employment opportunities, please
feel free to contact:

Volunteer opportunities
If you would like to volunteer your time with us, please give
us a call! Although we haven't identified
any specific needs yet, we sometimes need
help with field
work, and we may have outreach and education needs in the near future.
Future volunteer opportunities will be posted here.
You may also choose to send us your resume and interests so
we can add you to our list of contacts should
future volunteer opportunities arise.
All volunteers are required to complete some mandatory training
and to fill out a volunteer agreement.
