Why are these groups important?

They are important because:

  • They provide an essential link to the community.

  • They promote the land stewardship ethic by contributing time, expertise, materials and funds, and instill this ethic in young people.

  • They serve as advocates for their refuge or site by educating the local community, encouraging participation in programs, and building long-term support.

  • They assist the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service accomplish vital conservation work that would go undone without their efforts.

As a result, the environment is better protected. These partners continue to flourish as more individuals see the world as a large ecosystem that they want to protect.
