Program Objective:
The Kentucky Field Office of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service provides information to the public concerning threatened and endangered species as well as other resource-oriented issues in Kentucky. Presentations, informational booths, and outdoor exercises are some of the activities provided to school groups, civic organizations, college classes, etc., related to threatened and endangered species, neotropical migratory bird species (mostly songbirds), raptors (eagles, hawks, owls), law enforcement issues related to the Endangered Species Act and other legislation used to protect our wildlife resources. We also provide educational material (brochures, fliers, fact sheets, etc.) related to these issues to better enhance learning opportunities for all. Representatives of the Kentucky Field Office serve as active members on state outreach groups concerning natural resource issues and how they relate to the public interest. These activities allow us an opportunity to better inform the public about the wildlife around us. The Fish and Wildlife Service believes education is the key to preserving our natural resources for future generations to enjoy.
