Fort Niobrara NWR Hunt Permit Application Procedures:
ATTENTION HUNTERS: Due to the overall decline in the white-tailed deer population on Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge, we will not be issuing any more Refuge Deer Hunting Permits for the 2012-2013 hunting season.
The Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge has experienced a significant Hemorrhagic Disease (includes Epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EHD) and bluetongue) outbreak, and has limited the total number of permits issued to 100. To apply for a permit, applicants must submit a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Big/Upland Game Hunt Application, along with an empty self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Refuge Manager. Permits will be mailed to the applicant and cannot be obtained at the refuge office. Big/Upland Game Hunt Applications may be accessed by downloading the application from a computer at: http://www.fws.gov/forms/3-2356.pdf or applicants may pick up an application from the refuge office located at Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge, 39983 Refuge Road, Valentine, NE 69201; Phone (402) 376-3789.
Incomplete or duplicate applications will be disqualified. Applications will only be accepted August 15 through November 1. All applications will be reviewed, and permits issued provided all of the aforementioned procedures are met. We reserve the right to restrict the number of Fort Niobrara NWR Hunt Permits.
An agency may not conduct or sponsor, and a person is not required to respond to a collection of information unless it displays a currently valid Office of Management and Budget (OMB) control number. OMB has approved this information collection and assigned control number 1018-0140 which expires January 31, 2012. Please refer to the Fort Niobrara Hunting Regulations for current regulations.
Harvest Reporting:
In addition to meeting statewide harvest requirements, hunters must complete a Big Game Harvest Report (FWS Form 3-2359) and return it to the refuge by February 15 in order to be eligible to hunt the following year. The Big Game Harvest Report is included with the Refuge Access Hunting Permit.
