Conditions as of October 7 2009 HUNTING IS VERY POOR!
Avocet was burned this spring and is dry. The Special Use Blinds are dry also. All other ponds are full except Harrison pool. Avocet will start
filling on Oct 15 and take 6 weeks to fill.
Bird numbers are typical for this time of year.
Hunting
Waterfowl
hunting (ducks, coots and geese only) is allowed at Fish Springs NWR. Please reference the current Utah State
hunting proclamation for regulations regarding waterfowl hunting. All applicable
State and Federal regulations apply.
Utah Hunter's - you can get your Utah HIP online. Once you get your license go to internet sitehttp://www.uthip.com/ or you can call toll-free 1-877-882-4744.
Hunters are reminded to have their HIP # and sign your duck stamp. You will be cited for hunting without these.

Regulations
Game:Hunting is permitted for ducks, geese, coots, and mergansers only. Hunting all other species of wildlife is prohibited!
Hunting Hours: See the Utah hunting proclaimation for hours.The Refuge may be accessed
for hunting
2 hrs prior to legal shooting time to1½ hours after sunset (end of shooting hours).
October 7, 2009 every individual must register at the Refuge contact station.Group registration is not allowed. All hunters must sign out prior to leaving the Refuge. If staying multiple days you must sign out each and every day.
Blinds: Non-permanent blinds may be constructed. All blinds constructed out of materials other than vegetation must be removed when they are no longer in use.
Special Blind Area: Blinds for disabled hunters are available. Reservations must made in advance and hunters must register in and out on the special use register.
Parking: Parking areas are provided. Parking is also allowed on road shoulders in the hunt area. Do not block the road.
Closed areas: All Closed areas are either gated or marked by signs. Hunters or dogs may not enter closed areas. To retrieve birds, allow enough room between the closed area boundary and where you are hunting to retrieve your bird.
Firearms: Rifles and handguns are NOT PERMITTED on the refuge unless they are unloaded and cased or broken down. Shooting upon or across DIKES and ROADS is prohibited.
Boating: Use of small boats, canoes, etc., is permitted but gasoline motors or airboats are not allowed.
Camping: Overnight parking or camping is not permitted. Campfires are not ermitted. camp stoves and portable heaters may be used.
Personel Property: Decoys, boat, vehicles, and other personal property may not be left on the Refuge overnight.
Shell casings and ammunition boxes are litter.Failure to make a reasonable effort to retrieve litter could result in a citation.
Dogs may be used, but must be kept under close control at all times.

Report any observed violations to a Refuge Law Enforcement Officer.
