Project Description:

Project Description Many structures at stream crossings along Forest Highway 10 on the and Outcome: Yakutat Forelands inhibit the upstream movement of spawning salmon and char. In 2002, Alaska Department of Transportation completed a survey of the worst culverts and the Fish and Wildlife Service funded the purchase of a bridge to replace one severely undersized and failing culvert on Miller Creek. The US Forest Service contracted with a local operator to replace the culvert and install the bridge.

Benefits: This cost-shared work provided fish passage to five miles and 13 acres of spawning and rearing habitat for coho salmon and Dolly Varden char, resulting in increased production of fish for commercial, sport and environmental uses.
