Participants who have attended one of the 21-day sessions or one of the week-long workshops come from federal agencies (BIA, BLM, DOD, NPS, US Fish & Wildlife Service, and US Forest Service); state agencies; conservation organizations; community fire departments; private contractors; and international agencies.
Through 2009, US participants hail from 47 States + Puerto Rico: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. International attendees have participated from: Australia, Belize, Germany, Ghana, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Namibia, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Sweden and Trinidad.
