Remote Sensing
Remote sensing is mainly used for burned area assessment and treatment monitoring, and the burn severity assessment is the primary tool. The USDA Forest Service Remote Sensing Applications Center (RSAC) and the U.S. Geological
Survey EROS Data Center have teamed up to provide rapid delivery of
satellite imagery, Burned Area Reflectance Classifications (BARC), and other
geospatial data for Forest Service and DOI BAER incidents.
The contact for BAER incident imagery is RSAC. The Image Collection Checklist is a useful tool for acquiring remote sensing data.
The following are additional post fire remote sensing information.
