WATERSHED RESOURCES BURNED AREA ASSESSMENT

Mandatory Consultation Requirements (baseline data sources): Consultation and evaluation of soil and watershed resources impacted by wildland fire. Data Requirements: Following cursory aerial reconnaissance and the identification of watershed issues at risk, field surveys will be conducted to identify, evaluate, map and gather data on the following:

Data collection should include: burn severity by acres and percent of watershed, fire effects on the water resource, suppression effects on the water resource, fire effects on site productivity, and fire effects on infrastructure.

Management Considerations: The Burned Area Response Specialist (BAES) is required to evaluate values at risk and make emergency stabilization and management recommendations within the assessment report. The extent to which these considerations are addressed will be determined by the size and complexity of the incident, agency policy and objectives, and the agency's ability to provide in-house expertise.
