The Fish and Wildlife Service and the Friends of the St. Croix Wetland Management District hosted the third annual "Friends and Neighbors Night Out" at the District Headquarters in New Richmond, Wisconsin. More than 50 people attended the event and met District staff and Friends members. The event was a great opportunity to meet neighbors of the St. Croix Prairie, Ten Mile, Bass Lake and Three Lakes Waterfowl Production Areas.

The event featured the District's ducks on a stick collection, fire trucks, tractors and several displays on the fire, habitat management and private lands program. In addition to the displays, the event also co-incided with a board meeting of the Friends Group. During the board meeting, the National Wild Turkey Federation made a $5,000 check presentation to the Friends Group. The funds will be used to support habitat restoration in the District, as well as,  Conservation Day on the WPA, an education and invasive species removal event in early October. More than 400 scouts and volunteers are anticipated at the event and the funds will be put to good use supporting the project.

According to District Manager Tom Kerr, "the Friends and Neighbors Night Out is a great opportunity to meet our neighbors. The District Friends Group is very supportive of education and outreach and we appreciate the partnership that is strengthening our relationships with neighbors."
