Featherstone National Wildlife Refuge
Northeast Region

Welcome

Featherstone National Wildlife Refuge is one of three refuges managed by the Potomac River National Wildlife Refuge Complex. The refuge is currently closed to all public access for a number of reasons. Access routes are either along restricted roadways managed by CSX railroad or across private land. Concerns for visitor safety are present due to an east coast rail corridor that carries a large volume of high speed passenger and freight traffic and runs adjacent and through the length of the entire refuge. The tracks, rail berms, bridges, and structures of the rail line are barriers withich prohibit safe access to most of the refuge. The refuge is also unable to provide usable facilities such as restrooms, cleared trails, and visitor parking.
