Kid’s 14 and under fish for free, must be accompanied by an adult
A bus shuttle will be provided from the lot below Orofino High School to Tunnel Pond
Fishing gear, bait, tackle, and ice for your catch will be provided

There will be fishing activities, arts and crafts, and more!

Crane at work    

Important Announcement: Due to a construction project at the hatchery, our visitor parking lot may be occasionally closed during crane operations. Construction will continue through June. If you are planning to visit the hatchery please call (208) 476-4591 to inquire about access. If the visitor parking gates are closed, we invite our visitors to proceed over the hatchery bridge. Parking is available in front of the main hatchery building.


Dworshak National Fish Hatchery Complex is located at the confluence of the North Fork and mainstem Clearwater River in Ahsahka, Idaho, 3 miles west of Orofino, Idaho. The Complex consists of Dworshak National Fish Hatchery, Idaho Fishery Resource Office, and the Kooskia National Fish Hatchery located at Kooskia, Idaho (managed by the Nez Perce Tribe).  The Idaho Fish Health Center is co-located at the Dworshak Complex as well. Dworshak hatchery production is co-managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Nez Perce Tribe. Click here for a brochure on the Dworshak Hatchery Complex. How to get to Dworshak Hatchery Complex

To visit the hatchery, turn off State Highway 12 at the Orofino bridge and continue one block north. Turn left and follow State Highway 7 about 3 miles to the hatchery. Visitors are welcome from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. daily. Please call in advance for information about group tours and dates of hatchery activities.
