have always played an integral part in the effort to conserve America’s
natural resources. Such efforts are best illustrated by the Federal Duck
Stamp Program. For nearly 80 years hunters have, by buying Duck Stamps,
contributed to the preservation of more than 6 million acres of strategic
wetland habitat. The Duck Stamp Program remains committed to this vital
and productive partnership with the hunting community.
Hunters, you should know that
. . .
- If you hunt migratory
waterfowl and you’re over 16, you need
to buy a Federal Duck Stamp every year. Duck Stamps can be purchased at a variety of locations, and online through the E-Stamp Program.
- Once you buy a Federal
Duck Stamp, you need to sign the front of it in order for it to
be valid. Remember—only you can use your Federal
Duck Stamp, and wildlife management personnel will compare your stamp
to your hunting license to make sure they are both yours.
- We strongly encourage all
hunters of migratory waterfowl to check out the official U.S. Fish & Wildlife
Service hunting website. On it, you will find all sorts of useful
information, from where you can
buy a state hunting permit, to where you can go on the nearest national wildlife refuge
- ALSO---don’t forget
to purchase a hunting license from your state Fish & Game Department.
If you are over
the age of 16, it is illegal for you to hunt migratory waterfowl without
a signed Federal Duck Stamp. USFWS/Rex Gary Schmidt.
