2009 First Day of Sale

The First Day of Sale event for the 2009 -2010 Federal Duck Stamp and Junior Duck Stamp will be held on June 26. Once again, our partner Bass Pro Shops will host the main celebration, this year taking place at its Outdoor World Retail outlet in Nashville, Tenn.  More than 20 other Bass Pro retail outlets around the nation will also host events. Designed by South Dakota artist Joshua Spies, the 2009-2010 Federal Duck Stamp features a long-tailed duck and decoy. Spies art was chosen by apanel of five Josh Spies, 2009 Federal Duck Stamp Artistjudges; including Attraction publisher RichardSlaughter - from among 270 entries at the 2008 Federal Duck StampContest, held last October in Bloomington, Minn.

Junior Duck Stamp LogoThe 2009-2010 Federal Junior Duck Stamp will also debut on June 26. Lily Spang, 16, of Toledo, Ohio, took top in the National Junior Duck Stamp Contest this April with her rendition of a single wood duck drake. The Junior Duck Stamp sells for $5 and is purchased by stamp collectors, conservationists, and the public.
