Information for Sponsors The Federal Duck Stamp is one of the most successful and well-known conservation programs in history, generating millions of dollars for habitat acquisition. The Duck Stamp itself is a recognized work of art, annually featuring works by some of the nation[s most prominent wildlife artists. The Federal Duck Stamp Art contest and associated events also represent an excellent sponsorship opportunity for corporations and individuals seeking to make a difference and to be associated with such a popular and enduring symbol of our nation’s conservation ethic. The Federal Duck Stamp Art Contest is a national news event, and the announcement of the winning art runs in newspapers and on television and radio stations across the country. The 2004 contest was covered by ESPN Outdoors, which run tape-delayed segments featuring the winning announcement and the top 10 placing artworks on the weekend following the contest on October 5. Help sponsor a national tour of the Federal Duck Stamp Contest's top art to museums, wildlife, and fine art expositions by financing the travel costs (airfare, car rental, and lodging) of one Federal Duck Stamp Office employee who will represent the Service at the event and give presentations regarding the contest and Duck Stamp program. Help sponsor a lunch, dinner or reception that honors our nation's premier wildlife artists. This workshop covers the Federal Duck Stamp Art competition's process, explains how an artist can improve his/her chances of winning the competition, and describes how the competition offers an opportunity to promote wildlife conservation within the art community. Help sponsor a national convention held in Washington, D.C., for 51 "Best of Show" state Junior Duck Stamp Contest winners who will travel to the Nation's capital with one of his/her parents and his/her art teacher. At the week long convention, they will listen to speakers on art, conservation, environmental and wetlands protection, plus tour Washington , D.C. Under a Memorandum of Agreement dated June 22, 1995, the Federal Duck Stamp Office was granted authority by the Secretary of the Department of the Interior, under provisions of the Fish and Wildlife Act of 1956, 16 USCA 742 (f)(b), to accept contributions to support Federal Duck Stamp activities. The act provides, ". . .the Secretary of the Department of the Interior is authorized to accept any gifts, devises, or bequests of real and personal property, or proceeds therefrom. . . ." Contributions to support Federal Duck Stamp activities may be accepted as gifts of money, equipment, services, or other in-kind contributions to further the wildlife conservation goals of the Federal Duck Stamp Office.
