- Wading birds begin to show breeding plumage
- Shorebirds are plentiful and often seen feeding on mudflats

- Refuge water impoundment draw down to coincide with shorebird migration
- Peak of osprey nesting
- Adult spoonbills leave the refuge to head to nesting grounds
