Waterfowl Permit Instructions for South Bay Ponds

To obtain a waterfowl hunting permit for salt ponds AB1, A2E, AB2, A3N, A3W, A5, A7, and A8 (see maps) , beginning FIRST TUESDAY OF SEPTEMBER, you may do one of the following beginning:

1) Download the Special Use Permit Request (pdf) .

2) Call Refuge Headquarters at 510-792-0222 to have the Special Use Permit Request mailed to you .

3) Go to Refuge Headquarters on 1 Marshlands Road, Fremont, CA 94555
10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. , seven days a week (closed on all federal holidays) to pick up the Special Use Permit Request. You may complete the form and submit it during your visit. There is no guarantee that you will receive a permit that same day.

4) Go to the Environmental Education Center in Alviso on 1751 Grand Blvd (call 408-262-5513 to see if the building is open), pick up a Special Use Permit Request, and follow the instructions.

Once you have read, understood, and completed the Special Use Permit Request, you may do one of the following after September 4:

ALLOW FOR 7-10 BUSINESS DAYS FOR A REPLY. All Permits will be mailed.
Hunters are responsible for following all of the Special Conditions noted on the second page of the permit application.
