Five endangered, two threatened, and twenty-two species of concern are found in the Pahranagat Valley, Lincoln County, Nevada. Several of these species can be found on Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge. Southwestern willow flycatcher (endangered) and the Desert tortoise (threatened) utilize the refuge for at least a portion of the year. Endangered species success stories that use the refuge as a migratory stop over are the bald eagle (threatened) and peregrine falcon (proposed for delisting).

The following species of concern can also be found on the refuge (Mammals): Desert Valley kangaroo mouse, Pahranagat Valley montane mole, Townsend big-eared bat, Allen's big-eared bat, small-footed myotis, long-legged lyotis, and Yuma myotis; (Birds): white-faced ibis, ferruginous hawk, least bittern, black tern, Western burrowing owl, and osprey.
