Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge offers a wide variety of educational opportunities, so why not...

• Take your class on a FREE, wildlife-related field trip that is correlated with Idaho Achievement Standards? Bus scholarships are available!
• Invite a guest speaker to your classroom to do a FREE, wildlife-related educational program that is correlated with Idaho Achievement Standards?
• Borrow free materials that are correlated with Idaho Achievement Standards to teach your students about wildlife?
• Visit the refuge to use resources in the environmental education library.
• Use art to teach about waterfowl, habitat, and conservation.
• Engage preschoolers with reading and wildlife at Reading at the Refuge.
• Hold environmental-education events at the refuge Environmental Education Building for a small fee.
• Participate in a teacher workshop

Our EE program mission is to:

• Provide EE opportunities to help develop an educated, informed, and proactive constituency intent on protecting wildlife and the natural ecosystems they depend on.
• Increase public understanding of the National Wildlife Refuge System’s mission and how that mission is fulfilled.
• Promote a deeper appreciation of and respect for Idaho wildlife and wildlife habitats, Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge, and the National Wildlife Refuge System.

To accomplish that mission, the refuge offers a variety of educational services, supplies, and facilities for educational programs.
