An abbreviations legend is provided below and at the bottom of each page.
Page 1: Loons, Grebes, Pelicans, Cormorants, Bitterns, Herons, Egrets, Spoonbills, Waterfowl, Vultures, Osprey, Eagles, Hawks, Falcons
Page 2: Gallinaceous birds, Rails, Cranes, Plovers, Stilts, Avocets, Shorebirds, Snipe, Phalaropes, Gulls, Terns
Page 3: Doves, Owls, Goatsuckers, Swifts, Hummingbirds, Kingfishers, Woodpeckers, Flycatchers, Larks, Swallows, Jays, Magpies, Crows, Chickadees, Bushtits, Nuthatches

Legend:
Habitat (H): W = on or near water, G = grasslands and
dry uplands, D = deciduous woodlands and riparian areas, A
= agricultural fields, S = species more likely seen on the Snake
River Islands.
Nest on the refuge (N): * indicates a species that nests on the refuge
Seasons: Sp = spring (March-May) , S = summer (June-August), F = fall (September-November), W = winter (December-February)
Abundance: a = abundant (a common species that is very numerous), c = common (certain to be seen in suitable habitat), u = uncommon (present, but not certain to be seen), o = occasional (seen only a few times during a season), r = rare (seen at intervals of 2-5 years). Return to top.
