This geo-dataset represents the land ownership status boundary of the Mingo National Wildlife Refuge through the ending date given in the Time Period of Content.
Purpose:
The intended application of this data is to serve as a spatial reference of refuge boundaries for resource grade applications. It is specifically not intended to be used as a land survey or representation of land for conveyance or tax purposes.

Process_Description:
The CAD boundary file was imported into ArcInfo 7.2.1 and reprojected into UTM Zone 15, NAD83, GRS1980. The coverage was converted into a Shapefile in ArcView and updated manually using the DRG, a plat map sheet and legal descriptions as reference. To ensure accuracy of the boundary, the View Scale was set to no greater than 1/5000 and checked against the DRG mosaic. This process was performed by the University of Minnesota in cooperation with the USFWS.
