Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge - Spatial Metadata Overview
Formerly Walnut Creek NWR

Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge is located in the central part of Iowa, just east of Des Moines. During the initial planning and establishment phases of the refuge a fairly extensive GIS database was created for the refuge. This database is being used both to assist in the location of facilities such as the visitor center and interpretive trails and to track the re-establishment of the native prairie habitats and wildlife to an area that has been farmed for many generations.

At this time only the metadata is available on this server; the actual data layers are dynamic and are being maintained at the refuge. Contact information for obtaining the data is included in the metadata. The refuge also has a home page you can visit for further information on the area.
