Metadata tools:

• Park Service Metadata Tools Extension for ArcGIS
  This extension is designed to help import, manipulate, and view FGDC-compliant metadata within ArcCatalog. It contains tools to quickly batch import, export, and parse metadata along with correcting many of the errors in ArcCatalog's handling of metadata. It supports the creation of metadata templates and the importing of template data, e.g. replacing only the distribution information in a set of metadata files. Additionally, it has tools to more easily search through metadata records and to create an Access database of basic metadata information for a group of datasets. For viewing metadata, the extension includes stylesheets for a basic metadata summary and viewing the NBII biological metadata extension.
• ArcView Metadata Collection Tool
  The information on this page was derived from the NOAA download page for the Metadata Collector Extension and from the help file within the extension. It is being duplicated here to increase the ease of use for U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service staff and other visitors to our web site. Questions on the extension itself should be directed towards the NOAA staff listed on the page.   This extension works with ArcView 3.x. It has not been updated for some time but is still valid for anyone using the older software.
• Formal FGDC metadata tools, examples and documentation including CNS and MP Programs
  This takes you to the on-line documentation for the CNS program, the pre-parser for metadata and the MP program, the parser for metadata, written by the USGS. There is information on a number of tools and training sources. The MP and CNS tools are also referenced in the Park Service Metadata Extension.
• FGDCMETA.AML
  A modification of document.AML, producing a subset of the metadata. Simpler to use and install.
