Info on Avenue scripts for use with PLGR

PLGRpts.ave - adds the raw data offloaded from the PLGR as an x-y coordinate file theme to your view. Pulls in the ASCII text "as is", with no error correction or editing needed. Also has complete table, with labeled fields. The script creates two files, one is a temp file, the other is PLGRDATA.TXT, which is the final data added to the theme. Requires that the ASCII file use a .txt extension before attempting to add as a theme, so be sure to give it a .txt extension when the original data is offloaded from the PLGR. If you want to run the script multiple times, save the first theme as a shapefile before running a second time. The script will work with either Lat-Lon or with UTMs, just make sure the PLGR is set to offload the data in the appropriate format. You must add a button to the view to run the script, it won't work from within the script editor.

Area_cal.ave - used to calculate the area of polygons. You should have each polygon theme highlighted before running. Be sure to choose an appropriate projection for the view first, i.e. UTM, Albers Equal Area, etc. Add a button to the view to run the script.

Pts_line.ave - for adding PLGR coordinates to your view as either points, a line, or a polygon (in shapefile format). Will take raw ASCII file offloaded from PLGR; does not require junk character removal beforehand. Current version is setup for use with Lat-Lon, see notes in script on how to make it work with UTM coordinates. You may need to re-order your points using a text editor to create a polygon, since the script assumes the points were collected sequentially while walking the boundary. You again should create a button in your view to run this script. A drawback is that an ArcView table of coordinates is not created using this script, you just get what you see on the screen.
