Three species of sea turtles nest along Alabama's Gulf Coast:
May-September
How can you help?
  • Turn off interior lights when not in use.
  • Turn off beachfront lighting during evening and night time hours.
  • Limit non-directional lighting such as floodlights.
  • Educate renters to the impacts on nesting sea turtles and hatchlings.
  • As a landowner, allow volunteers to mark and monitor nests on your property.
  • Join the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Volunteer Program.
