- Conserve, protect, and enhance Service trust resources and their habitats. Service trust resources are defined as Service lands; federally listed threatened,
endangered species, and candidate species; migratory birds; and interjurisdictional fish.
- Implement recovery actions for threatened and endangered species in Alabama.
- Review approximately 1,500 federally funded, licensed, or permitted projects annually for impacts on fish and wildlife resources.
- Consult on projects which potentially impact the more than 100 federally listed endangered and threatened species in Alabama.
- Investigate, prevent, and remediate effects of environmental pollution to maximize quality habitat for Service trust resources.
- Work with public and private organizations to protect, conserve, and recover threatened and endangered species.
- Work with private landowners on a voluntary basis to implement positive, on-the-ground conservation measures.
- Inform the public about fish and wildlife conservation issues.
