About Us

The Refuge is managed by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, an agency of the Department of the Interior. The National Wildlife Refuge System consists of more than 530 refuges. The system encompasses 93 million acres nationwide and is considered the world's most important network of lands dedicated to wildlife.

Our Mission

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's mission is, working with others, to conserve, protect and enhance fish, wildlife, and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. We are the only agency of the U.S. Government with that primary mission.
