Species Leads have national/regional responsibility for their listed species. In general, activities and responsibilities cover the species throughout its range, not just in one state. These activities include coordinating recovery teams (where applicable); coordinating and tracking recovery planning activities, recovery implementation, amount of take, species-specific conservation measures for use in section 7 consultations, section 10(a)(1)(B) mitigation and conservation measures, section 10(a)(1)(A) research and survey protocols, and section 6 projects; assisting with budget initiatives; and preparing downlisting and delisting packages. Other responsibilities include maintaining a current population total (if possible), description of the species’ distribution, estimate of acres of occupied and potential habitat, and estimate of acres of critical habitat (if any). These responsibilities also include an assessment of the current scientific basis for the recovery plan and/or critical habitat.

Below is a list of species that the Cookeville Field Office has the lead.  Click on the name to view the recovery plan.  All files are in Adobe Acrobat format (.pdf) and file sizes range from 1-4 mb.
