News and ActivitiesOil Spill Planning Date Posted: June 22, 2001 Contaminants’ biologists from the Rock Island Field Office in Illinois, as well as biologists from other Service field offices, assisted spill response agencies in the development of sensitive resource atlases for areas located along the various navigation routes for the Mississippi River system. Eventually all of the spill atlases will be available over the Internet in PDF format. The atlases provide river maps and location information for rare, state- and Federally-listed species, mussel beds, conservation lands, important fisheries and migratory bird high use areas.
