Zebra mussels do
have predators. In the Great Lakes, diving ducks, such as goldeneyes,
bluebills, and scaup feed on zebra mussels. In fact, zebra mussels are such a
great resource that the population of these waterfowl is increasing and they
are changing their overwintering and migration patterns to take advantage of
the readily available food. Unfortunately these birds cant consume enough
zebra mussels to control their populations.
