California quail
California quail are common on the Refuge
Hunting is allowed of ring-necked pheasant, California quail, gray partridge and chukar on designated areas of the Refuge. These species must be hunted in accordance with State regulations and is subject to the following conditions. Hunting of upland birds is allowed during State upland game seasons that run concurrently with the State waterfowl season. In management unit 1 upland bird hunting is only allowed from 12:00 noon to legal sunset on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays and Federal holidays.
