Get InvolvedA great and rewarding way to enjoy and support the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge is by volunteering. Hundreds of hours are donated each year by dedicated volunteers who are the backbone for many refuge projects and programs. There are opportunities to utilize a variety of talents and expertise within programs such as environmental education, resource management, and maintenance. Refuge housing, trailer hookups, and vehicles may be available for qualified volunteers. Contact the Refuge Office and find out more about volunteering. Othello Sandhill Crane FestivalThe Othello Sandhill Crane Festival is an annual festival held each March focusing on wildlife observation, especially sandhill cranes. This event includes many birding tours, knowledgeable presenters, children's crafts, and other wildlife-related activities. Refuge staff support this festival by offering wildlife expertise, leading tours, and helping with logistics. For festival details, head over to the official Sandhill Crane Festival website.
