Fish and Wildlife Service Announces Availability of a Final EIS/EIR for the California Department of Fish and Game’s Fish Hatchery and Stocking Program

SACRAMENTO-- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is announcing the availability of the final environmental impact report/environmental impact statement (EIR/EIS) for the California Department of Fish and Game’s Fish Hatchery and Stocking Program.  Under the Sport Fish Restoration Act, FWS proposes to fund actions associated with the operation of CDFG’s 14 trout hatcheries and the Mad River Hatchery for the anadromous steelhead, and stocking from the 15 hatcheries.

The EIS/EIR presents program impact analysis, mitigation for impacts, selection of the preferred alternative, and response to comments received during the comment period for the draft EIR/EIS.

Copies of the EIR/EIS can be downloaded from the CDFG Web site at http://www.dfg.ca.gov/news/pubnotice/hatchery/. Copies are also available from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service by faxing or emailing your request: (916) 978-6155/ bart_prose@fws.gov.
