MES Tern Training, March 2012 -- How to recognize common nesting behavior in birds
This presentation was split into two parts. A video showing nesting behavior in work sites, and a Powerpoint presentation providing information on and identification of birds in nesting areas.

New Nature Play Space at the Play & Learn daycare center in the Tawes Complex in Annapolis, MD
The new Nature Play Space includes climbing logs and boulders, a rain garden and an observation deck for children to view and learn about the garden. In addition, Play & Learn teachers have received Grow up WILD and other early childhood nature training curricula to learn how to best use the space with their students.

Poplar Island: From Spoils to Splendor
A five-minute film of scenes collected from the Poplar Island Restoration Project. Scenes include least tern chicks, night shots of a great horned owl, terns, osprey, tundra swans, muskrat, large beds of bay grasses and schools of fish.

Nutria Eradication Efforts -- Voice Of America
Nutria use their beaver-sized incisors and powerful forefeet to dig under the marsh surface to feed directly on the root mat, leaving the marsh pitted with holes and deep swim canals. Voice of America recently followed Chesapeake Bay Field Office and USDA biologists as they assessed the successful nutria eradication program on Maryland's eastern shore.

Protecting a Tiny Turtle -- Voice of America
In Maryland, environmental officials are working to save one of the smallest and rarest turtles in North America. The bog turtle had the power to move an entire highway project in the state of Maryland. The tiny turtle is listed as an endangered species. It faces a disappearing habitat as well as poachers.
