To protect endangered and threatened species, migratory birds, freshwater
and anadromous fish, and wildlife habitats in the District of Columbia,
Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
What we do:
The Chesapeake Bay Field Office offers our partners
and the public technical expertise and assistance through the following
programs:
BayScapes Program
Enabling the public to use conservation landscaping practices
to provide wildlife habitat and improve water quality
Coastal Program
Protecting and restoring coastal habitat and wildlife and
managing invasive species
Contaminants Program
Restoring habitats that have been degraded by pollution
and providing technical assistance on hazardous waste sites
Environmental Partnerships Program
Assists
in identifying and building partnerships, works with the media, and provides
support to CBFO biologists and their partners for grants and other resources.
Federal Projects Program
Assessing the impact of federal projects on trust resources
and providing monitoring and recommendations for federal restoration projects
Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program
Providing technical assistance and training on habitat
restoration and enhancement
Permits and Licenses Program
Using the regulatory process to ensure that development
does not compromise trust resources
Schoolyard Habitat Program
Educating and involving teachers and children through habitat
enhancement and restoration projects on school grounds
Stream Habitat Assessment and Restoration
Program
Providing technical assistance and training on stream and
watershed assessments, and constructing demonstration projects
