Tidewater Goby (Eucyclogobius newberryi)

The tidewater goby is a federally endangered small fish that lives only in California. It is found primarily in coastal lagoons and the uppermost brackish water zones of larger estuaries, rarely entering marine or freshwater habitats. The species habitat ranges along the west coast of California from Tillas Slough (mouth of the Smith River, Del Norte County) near the Oregon border south to Agua Hedionda Lagoon (northern San Diego County).
