June 18: Valley Vibes: Why Care about Pollinators? 7 pm, meet at the Refuge Visitor Center. Before a plant can set seed the pollen must get from the stamens to the pistol. How does that happen? What is in your garden to attract pollinators? Program presented by Master Naturalist/ Master Gardener Paula Hallberg.
June 19: What's Blooming?, 1:00 pm. Meet at the Refuge Visitor Center. Join Master Naturalist volunteers for a look at early summer wildflowers.
June 25: Birds Raising Young Walk, 7 am, meet at the Refuge Visitor Center, led by Volunteer Casey Rucker.

July 16: Valley Vibes: Invasive Species, So What? 7 pm, meet at the Refuge Visitor Center, led by AmeriCorp Volunteer Emily Flynn. Some are pretty enough to put in the garden. What is the problem with Invasive species?

July 24: Wetlands, Wildlife and People, 2 pm, meet at the Refuge Visitor Center, Led by Intern Shakera Grant.

August 6: Spruce/fir/hemlock Restoration, 2 pm, meet at the Refuge Visitor Center, led by Ranger Cindy Phillips.
August 14: What's Blooming?, 1:00 pm. Meet at the Refuge Visitor Center. Join Master Naturalist volunteers for a look at late summer wildflowers.
August 20: Valley Vibes: Local Butterflies, 7 pm, meet at the Refuge Visitor Center, led by Master Naturalist Fran Pope. What butterflies are we likely to see in Tucker County> Are there rare butterflies that we should be on the lookout for?
August 27: First of Fall Bird Walk, 7 am, meet at the Refuge Visitor Center, led by Volunteer Casey Rucker.

September 17: Valley Vibes: Bats 7 pm, meet at the Refuge Visitor Center. Led by Professor Emeritus Jim Van Gundy.
All events are free. These events are co-sponsored by the Friends of the 500th and the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge. Some are also co-sponsored by White Grass Ski Touring Center and WV Highlands Conservancy.
For walks: Please wear warm comfortable walking boots and dress for the weather. Unless otherwise stated, walks meet at the Refuge office to carpool to a Refuge trail.
