Research Program: Sensitive Aquatic Species Conservation

The Research Program in Sensitive Aquatic Species Conservation focuses on restoration efforts for sensitive, threatened, and endangered species.  Currently, the Bozeman Fish Technology Center (BFTC) maintains captive shovelnose adults to allow for experiments to assess marking and tagging methods for the endangered pallid sturgeon and allow for research related to the physiological requirements of sturgeon spawning.  The BFTC also maintains a population of endangered June sucker adults to determine the optimal means by which to assess spawning readiness.  Past and present studies on Greenback, Westslope, Yellowstone and Snake River cutthroat trout also provide critical information to improve restoration efforts of these cutthroat trout.
