Draft Environmental Assessment and Land Protection Plans
Available for Public Review

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is pleased to provide Draft Environmental Assessment and Land Protection Plans (EA-LPP) for three project areas in the Benton Lake National Wildlife Refuge Complex. The draft EA-LPPs highlight the resource values; present alternatives that address issues and concerns that we, along with our conservation partners and the public identified; and evaluate the impacts that may occur if a conservation easement program is identified as a viable tool for conserving habitat for each project area. The following Draft Environmental Assessment and Land Protection Plans are available for public review and comment:

  • Proposed Expansion of the Conservation Easement Program in the Rocky Mountain Front
  • Proposed Conservation Easement Program in the Swan Valley
  • Proposed Expansion of the Conservation Easement Program in the Blackfoot Valley

How do I get involved?
The Service welcomes your questions and comments! Whether you are an interested individual or a group representative, please review and comment on our Conservation Easement Program proposals for the Rocky Mountain Front, the Swan Valley, and the Blackfoot Valley. Comments should be sent to Toni Griffin, 134 Union Boulevard, Suite 300, Lakewood, CO, 80228, or you may send comments by electronic mail to bentonlake@fws.gov with a subject line, “Draft EA-LPP Comments.” Please include your name and home or e-mail address in the message. Our practice is to make comments, including names and home addresses of respondents, available for public review during regular business hours. Individual respondents may request that we withhold their home addresses from the record, which we will honor to the extent allowed by law.

Your comments are needed by August 25, 2010, in order to be considered in the development of the final environmental assessment and land protection plans.
