Conserving the Future for the Next Generation! - For more information on our Environmental Education programs, check out our online brochure.

Environmental education and interpretation are a vital part of what we do at Bear River MBR. A variety of tours, programs, and events are offered throughout the year. If you would like to be added to our email list for notice of upcoming public and family programs, please send a request via email to: bearriver@fws.gov. Groups are welcome, but please call the Refuge to make a reservation before your visit.
Wetland Wings and other Wild Things Pre-school Program
Do your children enjoy hands-on learning experiences? Do they treasure story time? Do you strive to engage your children in exploration of the world around them?
The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge offers area, families, preschool and daycare students opportunities for discovery through our Wetland Wings and other Wild Things program, an age-appropriate curriculum focusing on connecting children with their natural world. We invite you to join us Wednesday mornings, 10am to 11am, as we offer hands-on, exploratory learning experiences for children ages 3-5. Your children will learn about wetlands, eagles, owls, animal tracks and more.
We are still accepting children for the first 1st and 4th Wednesdays of the month. For more information or to register your group for the Wetland Wings and other Wild Things program, please call Kathi Stopher at 435-734-6438.
Field Trips: A great way to teach children with adults about a host of ecological functions, the importance of wetlands, and the diversity of plant and animal life. Currently the refuge does not have the staff to provide activities for all groups that come to the refuge, but there are support materials available for groups at the refuge office. Call (435)723-5887 for more information.
Teachers/Group leaders - if you are planning a field trip with your school or students, PLEASE call us in advance to schedule the trip - as we are very busy with visiting groups throughout the year and we want to strive to keep the quality of visit for all groups. Thanks.
