The slim-bodied, brown Florida Keys mole skink reaches five inches long and sports a brightly tinted pinkish-red tail. It “swims” through the sand propelled by tiny legs and five-toed feet. These secretive lizards are only found on 23 islands of the Florida Keys in Monroe County, Fla.
