The 2006 Georgia Jr. Duck Stamp Art Contest Winners

One hundred winning art entries were recently selected during the 2006 Georgia Junior Duck Stamp Art Contest. Meeting at the University of Georgia 's School of Forestry and Natural Resources, judges selected top entries submitted by 750 student artists in K - 12 from across Georgia. (See lists in adjacent blue column to see Winners by Age and Winners by School.)

2006 Best of Show honors go to fourteen-year old David Jones, of Rossville,Georgia. The judges gave their highest scores for his vivid color pencil rendition of an Emperor Goose. Jones is homeschooled and takes art from Karen Anna Barton at Agape Art Academy. (Click on above thumbnail for view of larger image.)

Jones artwork competed in the national contest in Washington, D.C. The national contest was held on April 20, 2006 and results are available here. All 100 winning entries in the Georgia Junior Duck Stamp Art Contest have received recognition including 1st, 2nd, 3rd Places and Honorable Mention in their age categories.

The 2006 Jr. Duck Art has already been enjoyed by audiences in several locations around the state. There are still 3 more chances to see it! Listed here are the display dates and locations. Please call or see web sites before going to make sure that the art is up and to check for hours, directions, and admission fees. What Is the Junior Duck Stamp Art Contest?

The Junior Duck Stamp Conservation and Design Program is an integrated art and science curriculum developed to teach young people environmental science, habitat conservation and a greater awareness of our nation's natural resources.
