District ProgramsThe Valley City Wetland Management District currently manages 82 Waterfowl Production Areas for a total of 16,898 acres. Waterfowl Production Areas are open to hunting, fishing and trapping. These areas also provide opportunities for wildlife viewing, photography and environmental education. Numerous acres of wetland and grassland easements are monitored by the District staff. Hobart Lake, Stoney Slough, Tomahawk, and Sibley Lake National Wildlife Refuges are also administered from the Valley City office. Another District program, Partners for Fish and Wildlife, provides financial incentives and technical assistance for landowners to restore, enhance, and conserve wildlife habitat on private land.
