The Duck Stamp Story

In 1934, the Migratory Bird Hunting Stamp Act, better known as the Duck Stamp Act, was passed to help stop the destruction of migratory waterfowl and wetlands they depended on. Under the Act, all hunters over 16 years of age must annually purchase and carry a Federal Duck Stamp.

Today, not only hunters, but stamp collectors, art enthusiasts, and conservationists purchase these stamps to show their support. The funds generated from the sale of these stamps go directly to purchase wetlands and wildlife habitat to be included in the National Wildlife Refuge System as Waterfowl Production Areas and wetland easements.
