The state of Arkansas was previously worked by the Fish & Wildlife Service from it's Vicksburg, MS Ecological Services Field Office. That changed in the Fall of 1998 when an office was established in state. Conway was chosen as the perfect location based on access within the state (centrally located along an Interstate) and quality of life (Conway's a great place to live). The first office was located in Wren Corner on Siebenmorgan Road. It was a good office design in a great location in the city.

Somewhere around 2002 we were approached with an offer to co-locate with other natural resource agencies in a yet to be constructed "Natural Resource Center".
