Offered in June and July only
9:00 pm – Midnight
Reservations required

Program Description:

Sea turtle watch programs begin with an educational program about Florida's sea turtles and sea turtle nesting on the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge. Following, participants are given the opportunity to view a Loggerhead sea turtle nesting on the beach. These educational programs are conducted under a state permit and should not be attempted without a state permitted guide.

What to expect:

Be able to walk up to a mile on the beach. Bring insect spray to repel mosquitoes. The entire program lasts an average of 3-hours, therefore, you may want to bring a bottle of water. Because of the late program time and the potentially long walk on the beach, this program is not recommended for children under age 7, elderly or disabled. Flashlights, filming and photography with any technological devices are not permitted.

There are two different locations within the Archie Carr Refuge in which to participate in a sea turtle watch program.

Programs are conducted by the Caribbean Conservation Corporation and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
